Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a “dictator” and criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for overthrowing him during an official visit on Tuesday.

I am deeply saddened by the humiliation of European Commission President von der Leyen by Draghi he said During a press conference on Thursday evening.

During his official visit to Ankara, Erdogan offered a seat to Council of Europe President Charles Michel and left the incident, which has since taken place, to von der Leyen, who irritated him to sit on a nearby couch. It went viral on the internet and was named Sofagate.
